Dear Colleagues, I write with an update from the New York State Catholic Conference, which has issued a new Catholic Action Network Alert regarding the federal Educational Choice for Children Act (“ECCA”). Congress is just days away from advancing new federal tax laws that could include this legislation, which would create an income tax credit for donations to scholarship-granting organizations that support families with children in religious and independent schools. If enacted, this measure could significantly increase the scholarships available to Catholic school families. Once the link is clicked, an e-mail to the elected official is generated with only some basic details required. There is also an option to opt-in to receive upcoming school-related alerts on the bottom right of the form, which we encourage. Those already registered from prior alerts should have already received this directly from the New York State Catholic Conference.
